YOU COULD SAVE A LIFE: Cardiac arrest strikes unexpectedly and is a deadly killer for both young and old. It is estimated that 1 in 7 people will witness a cardiac arrest in their lifetime and have the opportunity to save a life. Chances are if you witness sudden cardiac arrest, it will be a coworker, friend, or a loved one. Learning what to do in a cardiac emergency could make the difference of you saving a life someday.

LEARN FROM PROFESSIONALS: Our classes are taught by professional rescuers who have responded to countless cardiac emergencies. Our experiences with the patients we encounter allow us to answer questions and bring real-life examples to our instruction methods.

LEARN THE WORLD’S GREATEST TECHNIQUES IN RESUSCITATION: Take a class from us and learn the latest and most effective approach to resuscitation. At Windsor Severance Fire Rescue, we want the best for our patients and our community. As a goal to protect our community from the leading cause of death in world, we sought to learn from the very best resuscitation techniques in the world. Recently Windsor Severance Fire Rescue received training from Dr. Daniel Davis, founder of UCSD’s Advanced Resuscitation Training Program (ART).  This revolutionized approach to resuscitation can increase survival as much as 500% above the national average.

Statistically, only ≤10% of cardiac arrest victims survive nationwide and of those survivors, only 8% attain full brain recovery following the event. However, with this new approach to resuscitation, (built from the ART method) WSFR is proud to say our very first cardiac arrest patient survived and made a full brain recovery.

CARDIOCEREBRAL RESUSCITATION: Our classes are focused on the mindset of CCR (CardioCerebral Resuscitation).  In the past, CPR (or CardioPulmonary Resusciation) placed a lot of emphasis on giving breaths along with compressions. However, science has proven that interrupting compressions to deliver breaths can actually become more detrimental to the patient. In contrast CCR is a thought process focused on high-quality, uninterrupted compressions, providing continuous blood flow to the heart and brain (with less emphasis placed on providing breaths).  In the event of a cardiac arrest, every second counts towards that patient’s life, and excellence is key.

FREE CLASSES: Windsor Severance Fire Rescue is determined to educate the public on what to do in a cardiac emergency and ultimately save lives. FREE CCR Classes cover essential information such as the prevalence of cardiac arrest, how to prevent heart disease, what to do if someone is having a heart attack, and how to respond if someone is in cardiac arrest.  Those who complete our CCR class receive a certificate of completion, a Heart Safe Team awareness band, and how to recognize and respond to cardiac emergencies detailed sheet and magnet.cert

We want to prepare you for when the unexpected happens.  Together we can fight this battle against cardiac death!
